Complete Works Update

Director of The Complete Works (the mentoring programme for talented Black and Asian poets), Nathalie Teitler, updates us on its journey…
After reading through stacks of impressive entries, and spending days short-listing and interviewing, the final ten poets for TCW II will be announced this month. Each one will have a ‘buddy’ –a peer supporter from the Complete Works I.  This round will reach many more Black and Asian poets across the UK allowing diversity and quality to flourish and the Complete Works extended family to grow in number and strength.

Meanwhile the poets from Complete Works I  are going from strength to strength recent successes include…Nick Makoha’s one-man show My Father & Other Superheroes which will be part of the London Literature Festival at the Southbank Centre in May and Shazea Quraishi’s pamphlet, The Courtesan’s Reply (flipped eye, 2012) for which she was recently awarded an Arts Council England grant to write a play around it.
