Commissioned by poet Nick Makoha, This Midnight Run was designed to celebrate themes from his play ‘My father and other superhero.’ Facilitated by Inua Ellams. . Straight after the show on the 31st of June, as part of the Southbank Centre’s Literature festival poet Inua Ellams curates a Midnight Run event celebrating the themes of Nick Makoha’s play, My Father and Other Superheroes.
Midnight Run seeks to reclaim the streets of a city, dispel the idea of danger after dark and try to discover after dark. It allows the meeting of strangers, enabling relationships to blossom in short time spans.
It aims to inhabit the confines of glass, concrete, steel and structure, as a child does a maze – with as much innocence and wonder as is natural. This event includes performances by
Musician: Randolph Matthews
Poet: Nick Makoha
Photographer: Wayne Thomas
Illustrator: Ada Jusic & Arianna Corradi
this Midnight Run was created to explore themes from that play, but in creative, city-wide ways. Tickets are £5. We will start at 8.30pm at Southbank Centre and finish at 2am. Remember to come expecting the unexpected.
