World War 1 Poetry workshop:

As we approach the 100-year anniversary of the start of the First World War, we would like to invite you to an evening poetry workshop exploring Brent during the First World War

Libraries and archives across England are working with local communities and national partners on a Digital War Memorial with the help of National Lottery and Arts Council England funding.

With the help of talented poet Nick Makoha and drawing inspiration on the rich collections held by Brent Archives, this workshop will stimulate reflection and create poetic or creative responses to Brent during the First World War.

Poems created during this session will be added to a dedicated area within Historypin, which will launch on 4 August. The event will also provide unique opportunity to look at archival material, and to be part of the start of Brent’s commemorative events until 2018.

For more details, contact Brent Archives on 0207 937 3541 or email archives@brent.gov.uk.

This event is FREE to attend, but booking is essential.
